My project is a brief and informal introduction to my hobby: mechanical keyboards. In it, I discuss my history with the hobby, take the viewer along the process of building a custom keyboard, and end with a sound test of the finished keyboard. My implementation is highly inspired by various YouTubers, who regularly create entertaining and informative keyboard-related videos. Their videos can range from reviews to ASMR "build-with-me"s. They are typically made for a more experienced audience who already understand the nuances of a keyboard build. I sought to make a video that blends several of those video types, as well as to make it beginner-friendly. It is not about inundating the viewer with esoteric information, but rather giving a brief overview of the "what" and the "why".

The project came out almost exactly as I intended, if a bit long. I did not know how long the final product would be, but I had already guessed that it would be longer than 5 minutes. Personally, I would have liked it to be shorter, and I feel bad about submitting a video that is so long, but I do feel that it was necessary to achieve the final product I wanted. It could have easily been 15-20 minutes long, but a lot was sacrificed for the sake of brevity.

There were no extraordinary challenges or setbacks. I was unsure if I would be able to receive all the required components for this build in time for shooting. Luckily - they did. I also had to contend with living next to a busy street when it came to recording my voiceovers. There were a few takes, even in the final cut, that were partially ruined by outside noises as well as the ambient noises of my room. I had no choice but to edit out some of these, even relying on Premiere's noise reduction effect at times.

The actual filming came quite easily, especially since I had a whole storyboard planned out. I did end up with well over an hour of footage, but that was to be expected.

I do apologize for the length of the video, but I hope it is as entertaining to watch as I had fun making it.
